An excellent treatment for those looking to improve the complexion of their skin and reduce the appearance of scars or blemishes.
Dermaroller is a device which stimulates the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin to rejuvenate its appearance, leaving it smoother and brighter. By puncturing the skin, it encourages a natural healing process to begin including the production of new collagen, which rejuvenates and improves its appearance.
The treatment is especially effective in targeting acne scars, sun damage and lines and wrinkles.
Three sessions are usually required with at least six weeks in between each treatment. Skin should remain in good condition for up to 12 months and a single session, top-up treatment is usually recommended either annually or after six months depending on each individual patient.
What to expect during treatment
The treatment is usually completed in three, single sessions – each taking up to 45 minutes. Dr Dodd will numb the face and neck thoroughly by applying numbing cream. The Dermaroller device will then be used all over the face – avoiding the eyes and lips – particularly targeting areas with blemishes or scars. Pain should be minimal, but you’re likely to feel some mild pressure as the device is moved around the face and neck.
Is it right for me?
For the best results, Dermaroller treatments work most effectively if you can have three sessions – so ideally, do make sure you’re able to do this. Dr Dodd will advise on the results you can expect during a consultation.
What happens afterwards?
As the Dermaroller treatment works by puncturing the skin, you’re likely to experience some redness and mild discomfort. Dr Dodd will talk to you about aftercare and provide creams to apply in the days following treatment. After a few days, your skin will start to feel smoother and brighter.
